The leaves on the trees are starting to show signs of fall colors, and your thoughts are turning to the holidays. As we all know, decorating for any of the big three (Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) is a time-consuming task. Some love it, some hate it, some just plain "get through" it.
If you're looking for a way to simplify things, consider decorating for the big three with window candles. These little timesaving gems can make a world of difference to your decorating efforts.
Rechargeable candles, for one, are great for Halloween, especially rechargeable LED tea lights. You can place them almost anywhere and not have to worry about hot wax, finger burns, or flames being blown out. Usually they come in a pack with a charger. One charge usually lasts about 12 hours (some are significantly more), so you can "set it and forget it." Some rechargeable sets also come with frosted votive candle holders so the flames looks more realistic. Here's one set of rechargeable candles we've enjoyed.
Electric candles in windows are another great timesaver. These little beauties can be purchased with light-sensing devices (the only kind we ever use) so they automatically turn on and off with the level of daylight. Plug them in, and they're radiant until you unplug them at the end of the season.
Perhaps our favorites, though, are battery operated candles. These window candles are so easy to use -- they require no electrical outlets at all, so you can use them anywhere. Windowsills, mantles, shelves, as nightlights, you name it. Again, go for the light-sensing varieties. Batteries on most models last an entire season.
Why struggle with exterior string lights when you can decorate beautifully from the warmth of your living room? For an easy and economical option, it's window candles all the way
